Review : God of Small Things

Not too old not too young but a viable die-able age
Once again my faith in quality of Indian writing is redeemed. This is excellent story telling by an author, who is writing her first book. I had first started reading this book in college days and immediately discarded it after first chapter, as it’s not your typical Archer or Forsyth style of writing. They are excellent writers undoubtedly but in those books, their narration never lets you become part of the book. There are always bigger than life characters, which you forget as soon as the book is over. But big thanks to a friend who “recommended” (read as Forced) me to give this book a try again, and I am happy that I agreed to her.
In God of Small Things; you become a part of its characters. You walk along with them on the river shore, play with them as kids and feel sad when they are broken. There is an array of amazing one-liners page after page, which get stuck to you for time to come. It’s a lovely story but with a thick aura of sadness around it.

Highly “recommended”
